Amorphis
Am Universum (2001)

review by: Jason Thornberry
Date: 9/19/01

Amorphis are one of the biggest bands ever to come from Finland (certainly the biggest metal act), and have gone from strength to strength since their debut nearly a decade ago. "Am Universum" is an heroic voyage, with each song building to a nearly epic conclusion. I’d recommend this album to anyone who likes spacious, grand, BIG sounding rock and roll with the keyboards providing equilibrium with the sizeable guitars. The vocals did make it all seem a bit like James Hetfield (of Metallica) playing and singing in Pink Floyd, but it was all very worthy nonetheless, and makes a great new chapter.
