When
its done well, instrumental hip-hop easily makes
rock and roll seem like music for old farts and the naively
nostalgic. Fans of DJ Shadow, The Automator, Mr. Scruff,
and Cut Chemist will enjoy
exploring the aural possibilities of something that isnt
bound by any regulations other than keeping the groove
consistent.
Mr.
Andrew Broder, also known as Fog, pulls quite a few surprises
out to ensure that 99.9% of this was a very pleasant surprise.
My only criticism? It had to end. If youre still
lamenting the apparent absence of Double Dee and Steinski
from current pop radar this will give you something to
smile about.
