If
you dug Rushmore, the movie, you're gonna love this soundtrack.
If you thought the movie blew, you're gonna love this
soundtrack. If you didn't see Rushmore and don't ever
care to, do yourself a favor and check this soundtrack
out.
Basically, it's a collection of 1960s British-invasion
faves from bands like The Who and The Kinks and The Faces.
But there are some gems you haven't heard, too, including
two really neat songs by now-almost-universally-despised
Cat Stevens.
Thrown in are some really cool, Mozartesque little ditties
from the guy who did the score for the movie. Lots of
harpsichords and classical guitars. Each of these songs
lasts not longer than a minute.
This is a fun mix, and it kinda brought me back to my
roots as a fan of The Who. Hope you enjoy.

I
just wanted to add to Stephan's review. The guy who did
the Mozartesque music is Mark Mothersbaugh formerly of
Devo. His interludes are short, but very sweet and fitting
for the movie. The other thing to note is the song "Making
Time" by Creation. When I first heard it in the movie
I was sure it was an unreleased Who song – Daltrey
like vocals, with drums that are all over the place (just
like Keith Moon). "Making Time" is so good I'm tempted
to go look for a Creation's Greatest Hits. Check it out.
