A
few years ago, all the rage was this "heroin chic" look.
Bands were wearing lots of mascara and trying hard to
look gaunt & drugged out. But very few of them ever tried
to convey the feeling of being on smack because they probably
didn't really know - it was all just a marketing pose.
But I've always wondered if there was a correlation between
riding the dreaded horse and making unforgettable music.
Which in turn has always made me want to do dope.
After
listening to Acetone, I no longer have that urge because
each listen makes me feel like I'm floating & drifting
& dreaming away on a pleasant cloud of serenity. This
trio writes the mellowest, chilly, spaced out numbers
that meander along and make you want to come back for
more. It's not freaked out like Pink Floyd, or boring
like the Grateful Dead, or furious like Lou Reed's "Heroin."
This album is just the smoothed out feel of not really
caring where the music is taking you, because the trip
is so relaxing.
So
go ahead - don't be afraid. Get smacked with Acetone.
